During your checkup or new patient exam, Dr. Shahriar will scan each of your teeth for signs of decay using our non-invasive DIAGNOdent laser. She will also check your gums for signs of periodontal disease and recommend therapy, if indicated. We’ll screen you for oral cancer with a state-of-the-art tool called ViziLite, which spots suspicious lesions beneath the surface. Oral cancer, when found and treated early, has an 80% cure rate. A bite assessment will show us if you’re at risk for TMJ disorder. We’ll also take pictures of your smile with an intraoral camera and display them on a chairside monitor. Dr. Shahriar will use these images to explain her findings and help you decide which treatments options to pursue for a great smile.
